The Architects of Trial Intelligence

Lawyers. Data Scientists. Developers.

We founded Campbell Law to answer a single question: What if we stopped guessing?

We are a hybrid team of veteran trial lawyers, PhD-level data scientists, and software engineers. We don’t just practice law; we are building the operating system for the next generation of advocacy.

Leadership

John Campbell

Co-Founder & Principal Architect: The Visionary.

A former law professor and trial and appellate lawyer, John bridged the gap between academic rigor and courtroom advocacy. He is a co-author of Juryball and the primary architect of the methodology that has powered over $5.6 Billion in verdicts.

John enjoys the challenge of constantly innovating. Although there is very little real competition in the big data space, that is not (in John’s mind) an excuse to stop iterating and improving.

John is also a Super Lawyer, AV Preeminent Rated, and a frequent contributor to academic journals.

Alicia Campbell

Founder & Chief Strategist: The Proof.

Campbell Law’s science can’t be stuck in theory; it has to be rooted in real practice, every day. That is where Alicia is essential. Alicia innovates with John, and she does something else that is even more important: she validates the science in the trenches. She is the ultimate “Super User”. She is called upon to help pick juries by the best lawyers in the country. She tries cases. She develops questionnaires and scoring metrics for jury selection. She is “the proof”.

With recent verdicts of $145 Million and $18.75 Million, Alicia leads the strategic application of our data. She ensures that our insights aren’t just theoretically sound—they are battle-tested and ready for the courtroom.

Alicia is also the genius behind FRED, one of the first people to imagine and build a data-driven jury selection app, and the chief negotiator for Campbell Law.

Bridget Devlin

Trial Scientist | Trial Lawyer

Bridget Devlin knows exactly what trial lawyers need from a big data study because she has spent her career fighting in the exact same trenches. As a trial attorney focusing on catastrophic injury, traumatic brain injury, and complex medical malpractice, Bridget doesn’t just argue cases—she engineers victories. She understands the extreme danger of relying on “gut instinct” when human lives and millions of dollars are on the line.

Michael Larrick

Trial Scientist

Michael Larrick doesn’t just evaluate a case; he maps the entire board. As a Trial Scientist at Campbell Law, Michael focuses strictly on the data-driven mechanics of trial and dispute resolution. He uses our massive empirical datasets to help lawyers cut through the noise, figure out exactly what resonates with jurors on a human level, and engineer the best possible outcome for their clients.

TRIAL BY DATA (TBD) | The Academic Engine

Academic Rigor. Built into the Code.

We don’t just collect data; we ensure it meets the highest possible standards of scientific validity. To guarantee our methodology is right, our team includes Trial by Data (TBD), an elite unit of the world’s foremost academic experts in jury psychology and legal decision-making.

Operating as an independent scientific advisory team, TBD works exclusively within the Campbell Law ecosystem. They oversee our proprietary data architecture, refine our predictive algorithms, and ensure every study we run adheres strictly to peer-reviewed, academic-grade methodologies. They are our ultimate safeguard against bias, statistical noise, and assumptions.

TBD adapts strategies and standards from the peer review process to inform the techniques and standards used in every single Big Data Study.

Dr. Jessica Salerno

Dr. Laura Smalarz

The TBD leadership team includes:

  • Dr. Jessica Salerno (Cornell University): A leading authority on emotion, group dynamics, and how jurors process evidence in high-stakes environments.
  • Dr. Nick Schweitzer (Cornell University): A pioneering researcher in how scientific evidence, expert testimony, and cognitive biases impact legal decision-making.
  • Dr. Laura Smalarz (Arizona State University): An internationally recognized expert in the psychology of the courtroom, specifically how jurors evaluate credibility, truthfulness, and witness testimony.

By integrating active, globally recognized researchers directly into our infrastructure, we guarantee that Campbell Law’s predictive models are validated by the highest levels of academia. We also ensure we remain on the bleeding edge of innovation.
